Slim Fast Has Bad Timing With Recall

It is the new year and thoughts around the nation turn to weight loss and diets. One of the most well-known diet plans is Slim Fast.
However, when I ventured into the diet section to purchase some of those Slim Fast shakes, I was shocked to see there were none on the shelf. Just a flyer that mentioned a voluntarily recall.
According to the Slim Fast website, "Unilever United States, Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is conducting a nationwide voluntary recall of all Slim-Fast ready-to-drink (RTD) products in cans, due to the possibility of contamination with Bacillus cereus , a micro-organism, which may cause diarrhea and possibly nausea and/or vomiting."
If you have already bought Slim Fast this year or last month in preparation for this year, realize what you bought may have been recalled.
"The products are packaged in paperboard cartons and contain four, six or 12 steel cans that are 11 FL OZ (325 mL) each. The recall involves all Slim-Fast RTD products in cans, regardless of flavor, Best-By date, lot code or UPC number," the website states.
"Consumers who have purchased Slim-Fast RTD products in cans are urged to discard them immediately and contact the company at 1-800-896-9479 for a full refund."
Best of luck this season without the use of Slim Fast. Hopefully, they will get new products back on the shelf soon. Other wise, you can use the bars or powders as a diet as well. However, shakes are out as a means to lose weight.
