Parents of Balloon Boy Hoax Fined

We all remember the horror of watching a weather balloon for hours in October as news was released that a boy had drifted off in the balloon.
We also remember the horror as the same boy with his brothers admitted it was a hoax, the idea of the parents.
Yes, six-year-old Falcon Heene's disappearance became a media spectacle despite never even being in the balloon but instead hiding upstairs in the home.
The Colorado couple has been ordered to pay $42,000 as a rescue bill. Police force was used endlessly in the investigation of the hoax and the judge wants the money for all of the costs associated with trying to rescue a boy that was not even in trouble.
Of course, the couple can not afford to pay. Why would we think that would be different? They were desperate when they thought of the hoax. I am sure they have not had any financial difference in the last couple of months.
I am pretty sure no network, within a million miles are going near them after this turned into such a horrible situation. To put so many people through the ordeal was just thoughtless.
Nevertheless, I agree the couple should be held responsible for their actions and that means facing the consequences that comes with such a selfish plan.
The parents have pled guilty to some other charges and will face sentencing this week. It looks like they most likely will not serve jail time just probation.
They need to set up a payment plan now because they do need to replace that time and resources that was used. They also need to remember their roles as parents. I am sure their kids will have lifetime scars from this ordeal.
I hope this entire ordeal has been a wake-up call for their future. I hope they do find a future that offers them the best.
