Owners of iPhone Getting Unwanted Astley Worm

You have to admit that these virus creators are pretty creative and yes, a little hilarious.

Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for those who get attacked with a virus. I am just saying that sometimes they are pretty funny, creative.

Take the most recent virus that is attacking the loved Apple iPhone. Right off the bat, note that the virus is only attacking those phones that are "jail boken" phones, in which the user removed Apple's protection mechanisms to allow the phone to run any software.

The Worm, known as ikee changes the phone's wallpaper to a picture of the 80's singer Rick Astley.

The BBC reports, The picture of Rick Astley is believed to be a nod to the internet phenomenon known as Rickrolling, where web users are tricked into clicking on what they believe is a relevant link, only to find that it actually takes the user to a video of the pop star's song "Never gonna give you up".

The worm is not violent as of now, in fact the creator has stated is was created to show the lack of security on iPhones that have been disabled.

However, now their is a higher risk for more malicious attacks as the creator has published the code. This will enable some to real damage as well as steal important personal information. It is only a matter of time.

I think this is one of those times when it pays more to trust the big corporation, instead of destroying a phone so you can have more software then the company intends to offer access to.

Right now, the worm is only affecting phones in Australia. It is only a matter of time, I believe before it has spread all over the world as a more harmful attempt.

Best advice-don't jailbreak your iPhone. Trust Apple. Have they ever given you a reason not to trust.
