The Foo Fighters will be following U2's footsteps and streaming live an upcoming performance. Unlike U2, Foo Fighters are using Facebook to stream their live performance instead of YouTube.
You can RSVP to the performance that is being held at their Studio 606 headquarters in Los Angeles. Then watch it on Facebook.
As a fan, I am loving this new trend to stream performances online. Ticket prices these days are outrageous. It also gives opportunities to those who live in certain areas that they never would experience otherwise.
I wonder, however, what this does mean for the concert industry and the artists. Will the industry fail to exist because of live streaming or will charging be in the future?

Top-level comments on this article: (1 total)As someone who personally went to see the U2 360 concert live AND watched the broadcast 2 weeks later on YouTube, I don't see anything but positives for music artists and concert goers. The record labels? Maybe not so much.At the live concert there were thousands of people taking pictures and recording video at any given time. Many (like myself) were posting their pictures and videos instantly to social networking sites like Facebook and tweeting their experiences. You can't buy publicity and exposure like that!
I couldn't help but think as I watched all this going on how it was only a few years ago that concert goers were greeted by signs at all entrances saying, "No Recording Devices Allowed." That seems really stupid, now.
I think now the big question is if unknown bands and music artists can used this type of promotion to become known, without having big record labels and concert promoters working as the middlemen.
