You Can't Catch A Cold From Cold Weather

We are all guilty of it! At least my mom has done and it and I have done it. It is that one phrase that every mom has to say. At least if you are a good mom, you say it at some time.
The problem is: it is a lie!
"Put your jacket on before you catch a cold!"
Or my mom also used to say, "Don't leave the house with wet hair or you will catch pneumonia."
This can happen when you inhale after the sick person coughs or sneezes. Viruses are also transmitted through drinking after someone, kissing, shaking hands, or touching an item after a sick person.
The reason they are more common when it is cold is that most people are inside spreading those germs from one another.
Now instead of yelling at my son because he takes off his jacket and throws it down on the playground the moment he is let out for recess, I have to come up with a new excuse.
Moms, I need help! I can no longer scare him by telling him he will catch a cold, so I need a new threat! Save me! What would you say?

Actually, maybe that would work, tell him to take his jacket off at recess and then maybe he'll keep it on. Sometimes that's how kids operate. :) Good article Asher.
