It is that time of the year again when women everywhere watch as their men zone them out while staring and yelling at the television.

This season, why not stay green during the season with a few extra steps. You can still enjoy the game while protecting the earth. Here are a few tips.

Tailgate in bulk
Buying in bulk allows less packaging and waste. This goes for the beer and wine as well. You will save money and trash by buying by the case. This does not give you an excuse for burning down your neighbors Oklahoma Sooner inflatable because you had too much to drink. Just because you buy in bulk doesn't mean drink in bulk.

Add some fruit and vegetables to those parties. Check out some organic fruit and vegetables and your local farmers market. There are some great recipes for homemade salsas made out of mango, watermelon or just using the tomatoes you can get from these markets.

Carpool
If your going to the game or just the neighborhood party. Walk or carpool. It will be fun spending the extra time before and after the game. Also, it helps if you do drink in bulk. Also, check out the different public transportation options. We sometimes love riding the monorail to the stadium. The kids love it too!!

Skip the paper products
I know those who know me are dropping their jaws right now. Cleaning is not all that bad if it means saving the environment. If you must use the paper goods, buy the disposable ones that are biodegradable or made from recycled materials. Also, set out recycle bins at your party for glass and cans and paper.

Be careful what you grill on
Electric grills are the best option. No, we don't expect you all standing around your George Forman grill. After all, we have seen The Office where Michael grills his foot. You do not want injuries like that at your party.

Just be smart. Propane is a cleaner fuel so if you can use that. If you are using charcoal, look for lump charcoal or all-natural briquettes.

You are already taking great steps by watching the game with friends. Enjoy the season! Stay green! May your team win all the games!
