Jon and Kate Gosselin have come a long way from their so-called normal life, if having eight kids is normal. They have become the ultimate celebrities, right?
All the while, devoted fans and real normal every day folk are finding their selves in shock as to what the family is becoming. People magazine is set to release an interview with Kate Gosselin this week causing more disagreements and speculation.
The latest news that is to be released this week by the tabloids say that Kate has been having an affair with her bodyguard. She whines to People that the tabloids have taken away their last set of friends and family because no one can come near them without being a target.
"The next story coming out from the animals that stalk us is about our security person and his family," Kate told PEOPLE exclusively. "Already the allegations they're making about me are disgusting, unthinkable, unfathomable, and I am horrified."
Then the unthinkable does happens in the interview with People. Kate admits what the public has been saying the last few seasons. Their marriage is in trouble.
"I don't know that we're in the same place anymore, that we want the same thing," she says quietly to People. "I've been struggling with the question of 'Who is this person?' for a while. I remember where I was the first time I heard her name. It's one of those things where you can try to make it go away, but there's blaring, red flashing lights."
The name she is referring to is that of the 23-year-old Deanna Hummel who has been said to be having an affair with Jon, Kate's husband.
The two were photographed leaving a bar at 2 a.m. along with having the girl's brother tell reporters that the two hide out in her room for hours at a time.
Kate is right that it is sickening that all of this reporting on their family is going on. But there is a flip side, that being she asked for it by allowing cameras into their life.
We all saw how she treated Jon. Does it make it right? No, not in any case. But caught in the middle are the kids. The kids are faced with a mom continually on book tours and a dad forgetting his real age.
What needs to happen? They need to cancel the show. Americans see this drama everyday in their own lives, they don't want to see it on television.
As for the kids, they need some private time. As for their marriage, it needs some work. Work that can only take place in private. Jon needs to grow up and be a father and husband. Kate needs to learn respect.
I realize they wanted to be able to provide for their kids futures. They already have more than most families. They have a million dollar home, vacations, tummy tucks, hair transplants, etc. At some point, you have to protect your family and say enough is enough.
They need to go into seclusion and they need to do this fast. The 23-year-old needs to get lost. Jon needs to realize that female friends are not an option. Kate needs to give up her success goals.
I know it sounds easy to offer advice when I am not living with cameras. It is time to shut down the show and make the only goal that of saving their family.
How great will it be to one day be able to say to their kids, "yes, we had issues, but we did what was right and worked through them."
Give up on blaming each other and grow up! Protect your family, preserve it during this time. Is it really worth giving it up to the publicity and celebrity status?

Top-level comments on this article: (1 total)Hi, Asher, the stories about this marriage and family show how eager many journalists and readers are to feed on unproven charges or claims. Whatever has happened, or has not happened, I agree with you on your private time emphasis. Being in the public eye is a mixture of sharing and being an easy target. I thought your final advice was wise, and I pray this marriage will survive all of this, whatever "this" is. The less the public feeds on this story the better, in my view.
