How To Camp On A Budget

Camping is a great summer activity that doesn't cost a lot to begin with and offers families a great vacation. In the times we are in, vacations are going to be hard for families.
Camping can be a great alternative. Traditionally it is a cheap vacation with nights under $40 at most campsites. Here are a few suggestions to make the vacation even cheaper.
Most campers are more then happy to loan out equipment. Do not make any big investments when there is really no need in doing so. Campers tend to use their equipment very few times in a year so they have no problem sharing their stuff.
Make a challenge
My husband and I are going camping this weekend and have made it a game to see how cheap we can go. So far, we have spent no money. We have asked friends and family to borrow equipment. It has been a fun game that even the kids are getting into as they search their rooms for sleeping bags and camping fun.
Go with friends
Split the costs with some friends. Most campsites only have a limit on people instead of tents. You will be surprised how fun it is planning with other families and spending time together. We even split the food dividing meals among families. It really cuts the costs down.
Check Sales
If you do need to buy some equipment, check out ebay, craigslist or local garage sales. Don't pay full price until you know for sure that it is something your family can enjoy.
State Parks
State parks tend to offer reduce costs and have endless amenities. They can offer everything from playgrounds, historical sites, fishing to swimming. Most times you do not even have to travel far to find one.
