Activities For Chocolate Covered Anything Day

I have heard about holidays made up for a variety of reasons such as Love Day despite already having Valentine's Day, Talk Like A Pirate Day, etc. However, this day wins the award for the all-time best holiday.

Who doesn't like Chocolate? December 16th is known as Chocolate Covered Anything Day. When it was announced on the radio, I could already feel my hormones going into super drive. Chocolate, really? There is a day that allows us to put chocolate on everything. Why I am the last to always know about these days?

The good news is that there are sites that even offer e-cards for the day so if you are like me and waited until the last minute, then it is not to late to celebrate.

I say make a quick stop at the store and stock up on any and every kind of chocolate, if there is still some left and get covering. Here is a fun recipe for truffles that will sure to make your tummy ache.

Take a bag of Oreas and a container of cream cheese. Crush the Oreos into a fine powder and mix with the cream cheese. Roll in balls and set in the refrigerator to get hard. Melt Almond Bark or chocolate chips until melted. Take a toothpick and dip the balled Oreo into the chocolate mixture then place to the side to harden. You can use red and/or green icing to decorate the top. Warning: It is a very rich dessert.

Some other great ways to celebrate the special day is to use chocolate syrup on your pancakes, warm up the chocolate fountain or plan a fondue dinner, get the pretzels out to dip. Enjoy a romantic dessert in the bedroom with chocolate covered strawberries or apples.

For those willing to be more adventurous, try covering hot dogs, chicken or even pickles. The point of the day is to be creative. If you really want some fun, mix up a batch of chocolate pudding to swim in.

Seriously, it makes you wonder who comes up with these holidays. I am sure it was some candy company somewhere. With the holiday season upon us, most likely they were trying to sell some chocolate. Either way, I think I might pick up some chocolate tonight now that I have got the taste buds going!

Happy Chocolate Covered Anything Day!
