In God We Trust Taken Off New Coins?

The latest email craze among Christians is news that the new Presidential new dollar coins do not have the phrase “In God We Trust" on them. The email tells of a woman who refuses the coins at the post office.
In actuality, the coins do have the national motto on the new dollar coins. It was decided that the motto would not be on the front or back, but instead run around the sides of the coin. The purpose was to present larger, more dramatic artwork.
However, Congress has passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2008 requiring the motto be moved back to the front or back as soon as it is practicable. It should not take effect until 2009.
Again, I understand wanting to protect our image as a God-loving nation, but jumping on every bandwagon has its drawbacks. It portrays Christians as having agendas and judging everything and anything.
Furthermore, at least get the information right. I am tired of erroneous Christian emails asking me to support or believe something only to research it and find out it is false. I think we want so much the opportunity to defend our beliefs that we miss out on “real" moments that we should. Instead we are believing emails from friends about battles that are not even needing to be fought.
I am appealing to all Christians to stop the forwarding and find out the truth before asking others to join a non-existent cause.

They get hooked in with a few others like themnselves and they send emails all day long. I have friends who send me such almost ever day. I hate to hurt their feelings, so I just delete them. But it really does become annoying.
Great job, Asher, it's always good to point out the truth in those e-mails. Not only does it show Christians as bigots, it also shows how stupid we can be to fall for things without investigating the truth. I also hate the ones that go around saying I have 5 minutes or else.
Good job Asher,I have been appealing on different issues for everyone and not just Christians to do their homework. An informed decision is much better than a biased opinion.
So you want to get it right? Ok then guess what there were presidential coins produces without the phrase " In God we trust". Supposedly tthis was done in error. Maybe, maybe not. In any event, how many people really look at the edges. There seems to be an agenda here.
Yea, those junk emails really bug me. I don't even read them; they go directly to trash. As far as this controversy over the slogan on the money, I find such hypocrisy in the country. Some say "no prayers in school", no "Ten Commandments" in front of a courthouse, but still sing "God Bless America", and on the currency, "In God We Trust". It's either one way or the other; it can't be both. Besides, it has little to do with having God on the money, in the classroom, in the song, or in front of the courthouse. It is about having God in the heart. Without that, all the rest is just spiritual 'bling'; it don't mean nothin'.
There is a guy trying to take the motto off of US coins. He has not been successful so far, but he is still trying.
