Facebook Offers New Style To Site

Facebook is set to begin its new profile looks this week. In the phase-by-phase roll-out, users can expect a cleaner look to their profiles.

There will be a lot of new features to the site including the moving of the left hand bar on the start page that currently features a search box and links to photos, groups, events, marketplace, and certain applications will be moved to the right side of the page and integrated with notifications and friends' status updates.

Perhaps probably the coolest change will be the addition of tabs to the profile page. A person can now have their wall, personal information, photos and applications will be on a tab instead of spread throughout the profile. Users will also be able to add their own tabs.

For those tired of having all sorts of applications cluttering up their profiles, Facebook will unveil a new way to interact with the applications without necessarily having to add them to your profile. I can’t tell you how frustrating it has been to have endless apps on my profile page.

A publishing function will also be added to the Wall tab to enable users to more easily add photos, upload videos, or write notes. Users can also add content to friends' pages from their own profile via publisher.

I love Facebook. As someone who was leery to the Myspace pages, I have found a lot of joy at Facebook. I have been able to reconnect with old friends and just become better acquainted with the friends I have now. Facebook allows users to really get to know one another on a personal level without the fear of someone breaching my privacy.

With these updates, Facebook has said there will be no changes to the current privacy policy.

On a side note, those who have yet to join Facebook or my be unaware, Searchwarp has its own group on Facebook so be sure and join. It is a great way to catch up with Warpies outside of Searchwarp.
