Summer is the best time of the year for a child. Endless hours of no responsibilities, plans or cares in the world.
Children have to grow up so quick these days so it is important to plan a summer that is sure to give them the opportunity to relax after a grueling school year. One way to let them relax, have some fun as well as learn at times is to rent movies.
Educational Movies
Several movies offer an educational plus. You can check the book out of the library and read it as a family as well. Because of Winn Dixie is one such movie. The movie is a sweet movie about a young girl who is a pastor's daughter and falls in love with a stray dog. The dog brings the entire community together. Other movies include Charlotte's Web, Hamlet, Tom Sawyer and my favorite How To Eat Fried Worms.
Pixar Movies
All Pixar Movies fit into the category of great movies to watch in the summer. You can even have a Pixar movie marathon for those rainy days. There is Toy Story I and II that will delight all ages. Those unfamiliar with the classic movie, toys come to life and face obstacles. Then there is Monsters, Inc., A bug's Life, Incredibles, Ratatouille and Finding Nemo.
Fantasy Movies
These type of movies really let a kid travel to a different place. These can be classics like the Star Wars Series. Older kids might like The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Narnia. There is also older movies such as the Back To The Futures, Flight of the Navigator, The Neverending Story and Legend. A new release that is well-written is Stardust.
Summer Theme Movies
What better way to celebrate summer than with movies that take place in the summer? There is High School Musical II, Heavyweights, The Even Stevens Movie, One Crazy Summer(older kids), and The Sandlot.
Pop some popcorn and enjoy some fun in front of the screen. This can be a great time to show your child the movies you love from your childhood. Feel free to leave some other great summer movie suggestions in the comments.

She now thinks she was nuts and I agree! The article will be passed on to others as well but she immediately came to mind. You are a very lovely lady! Be well and take special care.
